The project explores the repetition of exile. An inner exile, lived in a space where one should have found a home. Here, it is imposed by a family that rejects the foreigner. A house that accepts the object, but not the person who carries it. A space that demands silence from those who are already in exile.

Faced with this, a repetitive act, that of prayer, comes to be seen as the preservation of the self. Of an identity that cannot be dispossessed. The prayer rug becomes a refuge, a space apart. The repeated practice asserts itself as a pillar, rooted in a heritage damaged by foreign words. This intimate ritual is the form taken by an identity that refuses to be dispossessed. A resistance, gesture after gesture, that refuses to fade into the silence imposed on it.

"Do not grieve we remain" raises a question : where can one take root, where can one belong, when the place one lives in refuses to welcome us? Not by returning to what was, since a return is utopian, but by holding on, gesture after gesture, day after day, prayer after prayer, to an anchor that nothing, neither the silence demanded nor the repeated rejection, can quite undo.
