Margot Canzian Abuathera is a visual artist, photographer and videast. Her work explores exile, not as a single rupture but as something that continues to move through a life long after the initial displacement: through gestures repeated without explanation, through silences passed down like objects, through a relationship to place and to absence of place that outlives the generation that first lived it.

Her interest resides in the collective experience of exile as a shared experience, and in the intimate experience of it , in what remains of exile, in the family legacy it leaves behind, and in the way it travels from generation to generation, linked to the ordinary life rhythms of individuals. She interrogates these intergenerational transmissions, seeking to understand their effects not as abstract history but as something lived in the present, in the texture of daily life.

Her background between art history and clinical psychology informs her approach to it. She is drawn to the point where the psychological and the visual meet: where an image can hold testimony.
